UTM Brazil - Safe integration of different categories of unmanned and manned aircraft
The objective of this project is to develop and demonstrate concepts and technologies for safe integration both large and small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the airspace. This means that the UAS, or rather the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) or Drones1, will meet the civilian rules of the air in order to safely be able to fly in the airspace along with manned aircraft. The safe integration will enable a much wider use of large RPAS as well as smaller Drones and enable new ways of operating (new services). This project will address different use cases of such services, for both large RPAS in traditional airspace (within ATM - Air Traffic Management domain) as well as (usually) smaller Drones in so called U-space airspace (also referred to as UTM – UAS Traffic Management).
A core challenge, to study and test UTM services, is for stakeholders to understand the (future) traffic situations. To this end, LiU visualizes and simulates drone traffic.
The project is managed by SAAB. The project is funded by VINNOVA.
