ROC - Remote Operations Centre for archipelago traffic

The project aim is to develop a Remote Operation Center (ROC), adapted for traffic-intensive archipelago traffic. Today's ships have more and more components with built-in intelligence from which data can be retrieved. Today, the information stays in the component or at best is collected on board. With our project, we will find out how safety, reliability and operating economy can be improved, by having an operator center collect data from several different data sources / components and analyze and feedback it, as decision support to the crew on board. The focus of the research project is on compiling and refining data from several different sources and optimizing the human-machine collaboration. We consider this to be very important in the effort to reduce the risk of incorrect decisions, which in turn can lead to incidents.

ROC is managed by ABB and is funded by the Swedish Transport Administration.
